Would you like to Commission a Mosaic?

The following information will give you an idea of the process that the client and I will go through for a commission, dependent on its size and complexity. First off, I would need to know roughly what you are after, for example, a table top, a wall mosaic, a wedding present.

Stage One:

Whether it is a house sign on a slate, or a wall mosaic for your bathroom or kitchen, I ask you to look through my website, or Facebook page, and give me an indication of what you like, and what you don't like. As each mosaic is unique, this gives me an idea of what colours you are drawn to, whether you like shiny and bling, or matt and 'sensible', stylised or chaotic (in a good way).

This can be done by cutting and pasting the url, or giving me the title of the mosaic.

Stage Two:

I will give you an outline of the approximate cost and time implications.

Stage Three:

On drawing up a sketch design, I will confirm with you the concept of the mosaic and the final price, and whether that includes P&P or installation costs.

Stage Four:

For projects under £100, I will accept payment on completion, but prior to posting (you don't need to read stages 5, 6, 7 or 8), and the item is collected or posted.

For projects over £100, there will be a payment of a £30% non-refundable deposit, prior to me starting the piece. A more detailed drawing will be made for larger mosaics.

Stage Five:

The mosaic is made in my workshop.

Stage Six:

For projects over £100, I will send you images and request a further 50%,  prior to me installing the mosaic.

Stage Seven:

Installation of the mosaic where required.

Stage Eight:

The final 20% is due on completion of the work.

Testimonial

Every time I walk by the mosaics you generated in our forecourt, I discover something new and exciting in in them. Our guests marvel at them and the skill with which you have created images of birds, flowers and greenery to delight and challenge the eye.  One guest pointed out to me how carefully you had cut pieces of china into the same size and shape in order to create the image of a flower, another was enthusiastic about your birds, recognising how you had captured their features  delicately and accurately, so that they were easy to identify - among them were robins, wrens, blue tits, chaffinches, and gold finches.

Terms And Conditions

Payment:

I accept bank transfers, payments via my card reader/online and Paypal payments. Paypal payments carry a small surcharge.

Delivery

Finished items normally ship within 5 business days of receiving a cleared payment via the Royal Mail for smaller items, or by courier for larger ones. However, every effort is made to get your purchase in the mail within 2 to 3 days - for larger items I sometimes make bespoke packaging which takes a bit of time, but protects the mosaic better. And keeping the recycled theme going, I have a tendency to reuse packaging where possible.

oOo

You are always welcome to collect items from near Comrie, Perthshire given that mosaics can be heavy.

oOo

International shipments will take longer to be received, and we are not responsible for delays as we have no control over Customs, nor control over lost or stolen items. Let me know if you would like to pay an additional fee for tracking the package, and I will give you a price.

Cancellations or Refunds

Bespoke goods do not come under cooling off or cancellation periods once the commission has been confirmed. If refunds do apply to the commission agreement (this is by negotiation with us prior to undertaking the design work or buying/commissioning materials or other works) goods must be returned in the original condition and shipped at your cost. Once the returned goods have been received and checked, you will be issued a full refund, usually via the same payment method used for purchase.
