Making an environmental statement with a mosaic diptych of fish within fishes, using upcycled materials. This pair of original mosaic artworks are suitable for hanging on an indoor wall.
Made for a BAMM exhibition, the Beautiful Past is represented using upcycled Victorian blue & white china, whereas Savage Future is indicative of what is to come – a plethora of broken and discarded plastics. They are linked together using mirror.
Oceans was inspired by a poem, Savage Future, by Martin Clark.
MATERIALS: The mosaics are made of all manner of rubbish including stuff from the bottom of boxes in two scrapstores, including plastic toys and plastic knitting needles, and a computer keyboard. Also included is debris from East Lothian’s beaches, including a fish shaped lure. Made on a lightweight board and edged with a metal trim.
MEASUREMENTS: Each mosaic measures 39 cm high, 59 cm wide
